Why Roulette Is a Popular Casino Game
The word “Roulette,” which has French origins, literally means “small wheel.” The roulette wheel is such an inseparable part of a casino that even those who have never played casino games are familiar with it.
Roulette is one of the most popular casino games simply because it is easy to play and is based entirely on luck. In other words, players do not have to learn complicated strategies and rules to understand and play a game of roulette. Players simply have to bet on the possibility that the roulette ball will come to rest on a particular number, color, or range of numbers after one spin of the roulette wheel. If the roulette ball indeed comes to rest on the selected number, color, or range of numbers, players will get a payout; otherwise, they can place another bet and play again.
Roulette is the one of the few casino games that offers so many betting options. There are two major types of betting options in roulette—inside bets and outside bets. Accordingly, players can place bets on a single number, two numbers, three numbers, four numbers, six numbers, twelve numbers, odd/even number, red/black pocket, and so on. Each roulette variant offers different types of betting options.
Roulette Variants
The major variants of roulette are American Roulette, European Roulette, and French Roulette. American Roulette is also known as the double zero roulette because it has numbers from 1 to 36 in addition to a zero and a double zero. The presence of this double zero increases the house edge for American Roulette, which is why profit-minded players usually steer clear of this variant.
Players usually prefer playing European Roulette because it does not have the double zero and is a player friendly variant. French Roulette bears a striking similarity to European Roulette, but it is all in French and has a few extra betting options.
Roulette Winning Tips
Since roulette is a game of chance, there aren’t any sure-fire strategies that will help players win money. Simultaneously, there is no harm in studying betting strategies that might help players improve their odds of winning provided they know exactly when to quit. Knowing exactly how to manage one’s bankroll will also help players play a winning game of roulette.
