Sound Display Output Features and Utilities For Users Who Have Disabilities that Affect Their Vision, Hearing, Speech , or Ability to Learn Learning

(Note: Select "Open" or "Run" from Browser File Download Menu, if this appears.)

Sound/Volume Controls: are located in in Programs/Accessories/Entertainment

Screen Reader Feature: Narrator (in ME/2000/XP) is located in Programs / Accessories / Accessibility: for Menu /Text-to-Speech Reading and Typing.

Narrator is limited to function only in Word Pad, Note Pad and Explorer Browser applications. (Narrator will not operate in Word, or Netscape Browser)
See items in Narrator menu: Select "Move mouse pointer to the active item".

Text-to-Speech with Typed Text :

For demonstration of this feature, use Speech Properties : in XP, go to Settings/Control Panel/Speech/Text-to-Speech Tab

To operate, Use XP Regional Language Options in Languages Tab/Text Services and Input Languages (Details)/Settings/ Language Bar (Preferences)
- Note: Language bar appears on the desktop. "Speak Text" is on the bar. It works with "Word" typed text that is highlighted.
- " Narrator" will also speak each text letter as it is typed. (Select "Read Typed Text" item.)
