for Technical Assistance
The Southwest Educational Development Laboratory (SEDL) is the
lead partner in DLRP's work with K-12 public schools. The goal of
this work is to promote the acquisition and use of accessible information
technology in schools, so that students and teachers with disabilities
benefit from current and future technological advances.
The strategies for this mission build on the expertise and infrastructure
of SEDL. SEDL has extensive work experience in schools, many contacts
in the educational arena, and involvement with teacher professional
development programs throughout the Southwest Region. SEDL hosts
the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL), Southeast Comprehensive
Assistance Center (SECAC), SouthCentral Regional Technology Education
Consortium (SouthCentral RTEC), and Eisenhower Southwest Consortium
for the Improvement of Mathematics and Science Teaching (SCIMAST).
Staff with these programs are receiving the training, technical
assistance and information necessary to educate school personnel
at all levels of school systems throughout the region. In addition
to reaching out to educators and administrators through these programs,
SEDL is writing and disseminating newsletters, fact sheets, technical
reports and articles. Finally, SEDL is developing an email network
of Region VI public school technology specialists to assess their
informational needs related to IT and to share information about
resources.
Visit the SEDL website to find out more about SEDL programs.
